Al-Muqeet overwhelms everything with His power and is responsible for all things with His comprehensive and all-inclusive knowledge. He is the Powerful Maintainer and oversees all that exists, sending down provision to His creatures and sharing it out among them, taking care of all living beings.
The One who has the Power.
Allah, Exalted be He, says, “Allah has power over everything.” (Surat An-Nisa’, 4:85)
He has power over all things and He is the One who provides sustenance. Allah decrees the needs of His creation, in His immense knowledge, and then provides them with whatever they need according to His will and thus preserves them with whatever He grants them.
The One who has the ability to nourish all of creation. The One who maintains all that exists.
The One who oversees all things. The One who guards and preserves.
The One who is the sustainer of all, the seen and the unseen, the outer and the inner.
From the root q-w-t which has the following classical Arabic connotations:
to feed, nourish
to supply, sustain
to keep, preserve, guard
to witness, observe, watch over
This name is used in the Qur’ān. For example, see 4:85
Sustenance includes not only a supply of food for the body, but also an endless supply of loving-kindness for the heart.
