AL-WADOOD-The Most Loving The Loving One

The One Who is the source of all love and affection. His Love is intense, constant and lasting. Al-Wadood is the One Who is deserving of all love and affection! Al-Wadood loves the believers and the believers love Him more than anything. The One who loves His believing slaves and His believing slaves love Him. His love to His slaves is His Will to be merciful to them and praise them.
Allah, Exalted be He, says, “Ask the forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him. Surely, my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Loving.” (Surat Hood, 11:90)
This name means the One who loves His Prophets, Messengers and obedient servants. He is the most beloved (Al-Mawdood) who deserves to be loved withall our hearts.
Perfect faith entails loving Allah more than one’s family, oneself and everything else.

Benefits of belief in this name include the following:

Loving Allah with all our hearts and giving precedence to this love over any other type of love. This entails loving those Allah loves and hating those He hates. This form of love constitutes true allegiance and disassociation, which means drawing near to what is pleasing to Allah and His Messenger and, on the other hand, withdrawing from what is displeasing to Allah and His Messenger.
Hoping in the mercy and grace of Allah alone and never showing despair in this respect.
Experiencing peace and tranquillity when remembering Allah, invoking Him, demonstrating total humility to Him and calling upon Him alone.
Affirming the attribute of love to Allah (that is, believing that He loves and is loved), and thanking Him for this blessing.
Following in the footsteps of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) is a good indication of our love for Allah as well as His love for us.

The One who loves.  The One who is the source of all love and loving-kindness.
